- Who is a consumer?

Any person, who buys goods or avails of service, for a consideration, paid or payable latter on, and it also, includes the permissible user of the goods or services.

- What is defect or fault?

It means any fault, imperfection, shortcoming or inadequacy in the quality, potency, purity or standard as laid down by law, contract or trade practice. Similar is the definition of the deficiency with regard to services.

- Who is a manufacturer?

Any person who makes or manufacturers goods himself or assembles and sells goods manufactured by others or sells goods manufactured by others under his brand name, is a manufacturer.

- Who can file a complaint in the court?

Any person who is aggrieved can file complaint.

- What is complaint?

Complaint is an allegation “in writing” made by the complainant.

- What relief can be sought?

Normally either the consumer prays for replacement of defective goods or refund of price paid, with or without compensation under other heads, interest and costs of the proceedings.

- Who is trader?

Any person who sells or distributes goods, or even manufacturers the same or merely packs the same is covered under the definition of trader.

- Who is service provider?

Every individual or company who renders services after receiving a consideration is a service provider but it does not include where no consideration was paid.

- Either court fee is necessary for any claim or complaint?

No court fee will be levy on the complaint or claim.

- Either any one can file directly a Complaint, Claim or Plaint in the consumer court?

No. A notice is necessary 15 days prior to file a complaint, claim or plaint in the court.

- Is there any time limit to file a complaint, claim or plaint in the court?

Yes the complaint can be filed within a one month from the arising of dispute.

- Either any matter relating to public interest can be filed by any N G O or Society registered so?
